Sustainable university campus structures in Turkey review within the scope of LEED certification

Today, due to the unconscious use and consumption of natural resources, The sustainability of buildings and nature has been endangered. The reason for this danger is the irreversible use of resources and energy due to the increasing use of technology. In order to prevent these dangers, solutions that are in harmony with nature and adopt a sustainable and environmentally friendly green building approach are preferred. Revealing the environmentally friendly aspects of these buildings, providing incentives, and gaining widespread certification systems are considered necessary in many respects. Individuals who receive education in these buildings increase knowledge in sustainability awareness, and the idea of leaving a livable green environment to future generations by protecting the environment with this awareness is made widespread. There are many certification systems worldwide in the examination of sustainable buildings. LEED certification system, which is the most frequently and widely preferred among these systems, was used within the scope of the study. The study aims to examine sustainable and LEED-certified university campus buildings in Turkey. In the first stage of the study, literature research was conducted, and concepts and general information about the subject were given. Then, the studies section analyzes Turkey's sustainable and LEED-certified university campus buildings based on LEED criteria and scores. Next, comparisons were made based on the LEED certification scores and criteria of the analyzed buildings, and findings were obtained. The last part of the study presents conclusions and suggestions on what the examined buildings should do to increase their LEED Certificate scores to higher levels.
