Evaluation of urologists in Turkey of their publication in the last five years, according to various demographic characteristics Introduction and Aim: In the field of urology at numerous experts and academics working and publications in Turkey. No study has been conducted on the number of publications, citations received and the quality of the journals they have been published. The aim of this study is to reveal the number and quality of the publications they have made in the last five years by examining various demographic characteristics of experts and academics. Material and Methods: A thousand and two-hundred people were included in the study. Some socio-demographic characteristics of the participants (age, title, type of city they work in, geographical region of the city, type of hospital they work in), the number of publications they have made in the last five years, the number of citations of the publications, whether the journals they are published in are index journals, the number of first authors in the authors they are examined. Institution of Social Insurance database for sociodemographic characteristics of people; PubMed and Google Scholar were used for information on publications. SPSS 22.0 (Chicago, IL, USA) statistical package program was used to analyze the data. Chisquare and Kruskal Wallis tests were used for categorical variables in the statistical evaluation of the data. Statistical significance level in the analyzes was accepted as p˂0.05. Results: In our study, it was observed that urologists between the ages of 30-40, associate professors, urologists working in state universities and private university hospitals published more, received more citations to these publications, their publications were published more in index journals and the number of publications they were first authors was higher. Conclusion: In order for our country to contribute more to the medical literature, the level of education on the subject can be increased, information can be provided and awareness can be raised.
