Abstract (EN)
With the development of information technologies and electronic commerce, a digital transformation process involving all the actors of the financial system has been experienced and banks, which are one of the important actors of this system have also been involved in this process. The banks aiming to maximize customer satisfaction in the highly competitive banking sector are changing their operating methods and strategies for this purpose. The developments in internet technology and the widespread use of smartphones, tablets and computers have led to the emergence of alternative distribution channels. While banks were able to provide services only through branch channels in the past, thanks to technological developments, it has become able to provide services through digital, internet and mobile channels now. Thanks to these services, banks have provided customers with the opportunity to do many services on their own, whenever and wherever they want, without the need for a branch. In addition, with the help of digital banking applications, the products and services were made available to customers without even having to go to the branch, and the opportunity to conduct inexpensive banking transactions with cost advantages was provided. In the first part of this study, the definition, emergence and historical development of the bank and the types of banks are given. In the second part, the development of the concept of digital banking is examined together with its advantages and disadvantages and data on alternative distribution channels are shared. In the last chapter, the development of digital banking system in Turkey, with data and analysis of digital banking applications were examined. This study aims to reveal the status of digital banking in Turkey with related data.
