Prof. Dr. Mithat DİREK In this study, agricultural enterprises producing, processing and marketting lentils were evaluated, and current situation and problems of production, processing and marketting of lentils were determined and, finally, same recommendations were developed. The data were belonged to 2000-2001 season. In the enterprises analyzed, the most commonly used variety was local lentil variety and the average yield was 93,08 kg/da. Average cost of lentils per kg was 243.874 TL. The absolute and relative profits of lentil were found to be 13.349.115 TL/da and 151,47%, respectively. Farms have constant return to scale in red lentil production. Production elasticity of independent variables with mowing by lownmower is 0,99083 while that ofis 1,035 with combine harvester. One of the parastatal (TMO with Turkish acronomy) no longer takes place in marketing channel. Price speculation and existence of large number of chains in marketing channel create significant problems. Price of red lentil is determined by production region, supply and demand and quality.
