Evaluation of end of unit evaluation, MoNE sample and 2022 HSEE questions according to 8th grade outcomes of science and scientific process skills

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the sample science questions published by the Ministry of National Education for the HSEE (High School Transition Exam) during the 2021-2022 academic year, the end-of-unit assessment questions at the end of the MoNE (Ministry of National Education) 8th-grade science textbook, and the 2022 HSEE Science questions in terms of the acquisitions and scientific process skills outlined in the 2018 science curriculum. In the research, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was conducted, involving the content analysis of the data. In the study, 279 questions, including 179 science text book end-unit evaluation questions, 80 sample questions and 20 2022 HSEE science questions, were evaluated in terms of acquisitions and scientific process skills. As a result of the research, the evaluation rate of the unit assessment questions according to the acquisitions in the science textbook published according to the 2021-2022 academic year is %315, the evaluation rate of the science sample questions published by the Ministry of National Education is %164, and the evaluation rate of the 2022 HSEE science questions is %33. The reason why the evaluation rate of unit evaluation questions is higher than the achievements is due to the fact that some questions contain more than one acquisitions. It has been concluded that HSEE questions are insufficient in terms of the scope of learning according to unit evaluation and sample questions. When examined in terms of scientific process skills, "observation", "inference" science process skills were mostly mentioned in the 2022 HSEE science questions. The percentage rate of "observation" science process skill in HSEE science questions was determined as %50, and the rate of "interpretation and inference" science process skill was detemined as %45. Science process skills of "observation", "inter pretation and inference" are more common than other skills in 2022 science sample questions. The percentage rate of "observation" science process skill in 2022 science sample questions was determined as %60, and the rate of "interpretation and deduction" was %48. When the HSEE questions and sample questions are examined in terms of scientific process skills, they exhibit similarities.
