Abstract (EN)
In today's world, online shopping has become widespread gradually in accordance with the rise in internet usage and in recent years; it has been observed that consumers generally prefer online shopping to classical shopping from stores. This change which is towards online shopping in consumers shopping methods has also changed numerous consumption patterns. Those who prefer online shopping to classical shopping from stores tend to consume more, thanks to the wide range of products with more affordable prices. In this context, the aim of this study is to identify the effect of consumers choice of online shopping as a shopping method on unplanned consumption expenditures. Within the scope of the study, the proliferation process of electronic commerce and online shopping, and the changes in consumers consumption patterns in Turkey are examined. In the implementation phase of the study, survey methodology is used in order to define the relationship between university students online shopping behaviors and their unplanned consumption expenditures. For the survey application, 2013-2014 academic year's 2.450 students of Dumlupınar University have been conducted as representatives of university students in Turkey and students are inquired in which level they adopt online shopping and in what way this shopping method affects their expenditures.
