Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to reveal the impact of university-industry collaboration on student's career development in developed and developing countries. There are various alternatives to the word "University-industry Collaboration" (UIC) comprising University-Industry Linkages (UIL), University-Industry Partnership (UIP) etc. In light of the literature, "University-Industry collaboration is defined as the collaboration seeking to accelerate expertise and knowledge transfer between the learning system and industry". New ideas and technology are constantly in high demand around the world. Collaboration between universities and industries can foster innovation and provide fresh methods for problems. Robust university links between universities and industries can accelerate local economies and train a more qualified labor force. Thus, university-industry collaboration has a substantial influence on the country's economy, particularly on student career development. These university-industry collaborations typically result in a larger network of resources and contacts, which can serve as a platform for future collaborations. Collaborations between universities and industries benefit both parties by generating a competent employee and supporting students with the handy experience they demand while studying. These university-industry relationships advance employees by providing prospects for skilled progress and growth. Industry executives that serve on university advisory boards contribute to the design and improvement of curriculum and academic programmes, preparing students for successful careers. Through industry mentorship, students can obtain tailored coaching and possibilities for career progress that are not possible in a traditional classroom perspective. The research has been conducted through quantitative and qualitative cross-sectional studies. To get a detailed universal overview of UIC, questionnaires were conducted in Pakistan, Türkiye and Lithuania among business and engineering students from various universities and qualitative data is gathered through university websites. The questionnaire was developed in two languages (English & Turkish). The questionnaires were disseminated online through google forms. A simple random sampling technique was used to gather the responses from a total sample of around 557 students. The findings show that UIC generates value for the university, students, and industry. More value is created, particularly for students, and business can benefit from this increased value. Students benefit from real-world knowledge and project-based education, resulting in a richer learning experience. Furthermore, contact with industry increases students' employment opportunities. Students can use UIC to advance their careers. Furthermore, students provide a new viewpoint, introspection, inspiration, energy, and passion. Through collaboration, companies and universities have access to fresh knowledge and innovation tools. Collaborating with students can also help businesses to get future employees.
