Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the fear of being without a mobile phone (nomophobia) and loneliness levels of university students. The study included 400 (200 male and 200 female) university students. Nomophobia Scale adapted into Turkish by Yıldırım, Sumuer, Adnan and Yıldırım (2016), UCLA Loneliness Scale adapted into Turkish by Demir (1989) and personal information form developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools in the study. The population and sample of the study consisted of university students in Erzincan and Kayseri in the 2024-2025 academic year. The forms collected in the context of the study were used in SPSS 27.0 package programme. Descriptive analyses were used in the analysis of the forms collected within the scope of the study. Skewness and kurtosis coefficients were examined to examine whether the data set was normally distributed. Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to examine the relationships in the data set, which was found to be normally distributed; independent samples T test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for two or more groups were used to determine the direction of differentiation for paired groups, and Simple Linear Regression Analysis was used to determine whether nomophobia levels predict university students' loneliness levels. When the findings of the study are examined, it is seen that there is a positive and moderately significant relationship between Nomophobia and Loneliness. The results obtained in the study were discussed within the scope of the literature and recommendations were made.
