Abstract (EN)

Drug use is an increasingly common public problem and, threatens younger age groups. Especially after the US invasion of Iraq, the fact that the drug trade in the region is easier and more accessible puts younger age groups in serious danger. For this reason, it is revealed how important the necessary precautions for drug use, especially in younger age groups, are both in public and social dimensions. The aim of this study is to determine the possible threats to Iraqi children's drug use and public safety. For this purpose, a qualitative research method was used by making one-to-one interviews with 17 children living in Baghdad, their opinions on the subject were taken, and content analysis was carried out in the context of the concepts of stigmatization and anomie. A semi-structured interview form and in-depth interview was used as a data collection tool in the research. As a result of the research, it has been determined that individuals who use drugs are perceived with a negative perspective by society. At the same time, it was determined that drug use endangered public safety and that the Iraqi government could not implement the necessary policies in the fight against drugs. Suggestions were made in light of the findings obtained. We preferred the qualitative research method for one-to-one interviews within the scope of the research. In the context of the concepts of stigmatization and anomie are used for the content analysis.
