Abstract (EN)

Medium and large-scale earthquakes cause devastating damages for Turkey, which has high earthquake activity. One of the important effects of an earthquake on the ground is 'soil amplification'. Soil amplification is the amplification up to several times in amplitude content by changing the frequency and amplitude content as the earthquake force passes from bedrock to weak soils (alluvium, current sediments, etc.). The Sakarya (Adapazarı) region in the 1999 Marmara (Gölcük) Earthquake, the Gölyaka-Kaynaşlı line in the 1999 Düzce Earthquake and the Erciş District in the 2011 Van Earthquake are examples of this situation. The fact that more destructive damage occurred in the Bayraklı District in the recent İzmir Earthquake of 2020 has once again revealed the importance of soil enlargement. Most of the Van housing stock located around Lake Van is built on alluvial and lake sediments. In this thesis, it is aimed to examine the soil amplification factor in the city center of Van. İpekyolu and Tuşba, which are two central districts, were studied and for this purpose, two representative profiles were created in Deepsoil software with the ground data obtained. While selecting the earthquake records required for the analysis, there are two faults that significantly affect Van; Taking the Van Fault and Çaldıran Fault as a reference, 11 scenario earthquake records were selected as suggested by TBDY2018. Selected recordings are matched to the target spectrum in the SeismoMatch program. In addition, unlike the two real representative profiles, four more profiles were created automatically in Deepsoil and in this way, the number of profiles was increased and the variation of the amplification coefficients was tried to be obtained in a wider range. As a result of the analysis, the amplification coefficient for 0.2s in the İpekyolu Region is in the range of 0.47-0.80, for 1s it is in the range of 1.39-2.31; It was observed that the amplification coefficient for 0.2s in Tuşba Region varied between 0.62-1.06, and between 1.61-2.28 for 1s. In addition, soil amplifications recommended by TBDY2018; FS=1.28, F1=2.27 for the ZD local soil class, which is predominantly present in the studied areas. It was seen that the FS values obtained in the analyzes for both İpekyolu and Tuşba Districts were smaller than the TBDY2018 value, and the F1 value suggested in TBDY2018 was found to be within the range of change obtained by the analysis of the F1 value, İpekyolu and Tuşba Districts.
