Adaptation of Reşat Nuri Güntekin's stories to A2 level in teaching Turkish to foreigners

The use of original texts in teaching Turkish to foreigners has gained importance in recent years. However, students must be at a certain language level in order to be able to learn language by reading original texts. For this reason, it is suitable for both in-class use and out-of-class reading activities, especially for beginners and intermediate students it is thought that it is appropriate to adapt the stories, which are original literary texts, according to the levels within the framework of certain methods and criteria. In addition to language teaching, they also need literary texts in order to acquire the vocabulary and culture of the target language naturally. Based on this idea, this study was carried out in order to keep the data of text readings. Six stories of Reşat Nuri Güntekin, one of the important writers of Turkish literature, have been adapted to the A2 language level with in the framework of text modification. For these processes, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages was examined and the gains were determined, and the vocabulary and grammatical structures in the New Hitit 1 book were taken as basis. For lexical replacement, besides the vocabulary in the book, Turkish National Corpus was consulted.
