Sebk-i Hindi developed under the leadership of Urfî-i Shirazi (c.e. 1555- c.e. 1591), had an important influence especially in Afghanistan and Anatolia. As a result of this influence, many commentaries were written about Urfî's poems in the Anatolian literary field. These commentaries are important proofs that shows Urfî's poems arouse curiosity in Anatolia and were read by people. The aim of this thesis is to reveal a text that will be used as a source for new comparative studies by preparing the text of commentary which was written by Yanyalı Suleyman Efendi at late XVII. and early XIX. century named "Serh-i Dîvân-ı Urfî" which is a commentary to the Dîvân of the Persian poet Urfî-i Shirazi who has influenced the poets who wrote poems especially in Sebk-i Hindi, and which has greatly gained fame. Information about the commentaries written in the context of our classical commentary tradition and the methodology of these commentaries were given. In our thesis we studied the commenatry text which is one of the most voluminous commentaries written in the poems of Urfî (258 leafs) was written by Suleyman Yanyali. The commentary text registered in Istanbul University Rare Works Library were transfered to the current transcription alphabet system. On the other hand, in our study, the translations of over two thousand Persian couplets of Urfî were given as footnote to the text. Thus, it is aimed to make use of the study for language learning, which is one of the objectives of classical commentary texts. At the end of the study, a commentary dictionary was prepared the commentator's own sentences about the words, concepts, compositions in the commentary text.
