Abstract (EN)
The building facade is an important element that provides the first interaction in the visual relationship that architecture establishes with the subject and gives the building the opportunity to display its design and identity. In addition to their daytime appearance, buildings continue to interact with the city at night. Various lighting designs are applied in order to ensure the continuity of this visual interaction, to increase night visibility and to emphasize the architectural facade features. With the development of building face lighting tools and techniques in parallel with technological advances, there is an architectural separation of building faces perceived in daylight and night views. The aim of this study is to reveal the characteristic differences of the building face lighting designs, which cause the existing architectural design of the buildings to be perceived differently, in the context of "architectural metamorphosis" and the changes in visual perception. For this purpose, the appearance of the buildings under daylight and night views were compared using the principles of basic design and Gestalt theory within the scope of visual analysis and the quality of lighting applications was evaluated. In the study, first of all, the development process of facade lighting applications, the tools and techniques used and the examples applied from past to present have been mentioned. Within the scope of the research, examples of building facades within the borders of Ankara-Eskişehir road and Çankaya district were analyzed. Under the selected criteria, the day and night views of the examples were compared, evaluated and discussed in the context of visual perception and architectural metamorphosis. In the comparative analysis, it has been seen that there are differences between the day and night views of the buildings in terms of architectural language.
