The determination of in service training needs of beginning nurses

Aim: This study aims determine the needs of education of beginning nurses by learning experienced nurses opinions. Method:In This research between 01.09.2013- 31.12.20014 dates 304 nurses from four different hospital a university hospital ,a third step public hospital, a second step public hospital and a special hospital constitued the sample. as a data collection tool, a questionaire from, which was prepare seperately for the nurses who started the job, the trainer, manager and the nurses working 24 months and over used the introductry data form and the requirement determinationform for in-service training. Chi-square and mann whitney-u tests were applied for the analysis of the data. Findings: The nurses included in the research stated that new nurses need training and most of them stated that even if they received in-service training, the training did not meet their need. The nurses participating in the study reported that most of the nurses starting to work had diffuculty in adaptation. Communicatıon, lack of practice and medications and made mistakes about the most used forms, emergency response and drug doses. Most of the nurses wanted in service training programmes to be 10:00-12:00 hourses and month from the day started work, and suggested that the oriontation of the instution and depertment should be done seperately and that the training nurses should be equipped and detail planning of the training programme whital signs, cpr drug applications and side effects, bleeding follow up, shock,m fluid electroled monitoring, use of drugs and materials in the emergency car, stiotions requiring isolation and care practices, unconsious patientscare and motivation werw the most important isueses. Results: Beginning nurses have training needs and training are not sufficient. Needs assesments should be made when in service training programmes are organized and opinions of experienced and new nurses should be included.
