Abstract (EN)
Today, economic activities cannot be considered separately from their direct and indirect social impacts and environmental consequences. Economic, environmental and social effects need to be approached and assessed with a balanced and integrated manner. Under these circumstances, the assessment of sustainability performance of manufacturing processes, product, projects and supply chains is particularly important. Nevertheless, available models that aim to evaluate sustainability of business activities in a holistic way are limited in their scope and methodology. To address this gap, an innovative sustainability performance evaluation framework is proposed in this study as a decision-making support tool for different industries and purposes with the help of operations research methods. This structure is based on a 4-level hierarchical criteria model, combined with multi-criteria decision making (AHP-VIKOR) and group decision making methods. It is then adapted for the application area of energy, where the framework is tested on two real case studies from Turkey to demonstrate its effectiveness and usability in literature and business operations.
