The assesment of the new high school biology curriculum according to the opinions of teacher

This study has been carried out to assess the 9th and 10th grade biology program in a accordance with the lecturer?s opinions.Research has been conducted in 2009-2010 education year.The sample of their research consist of the teachers who attented the classes of biology in the secondary schools of 9th and 10th in Sakarya Central and provincal schools through the easily comprihendible state sampling in order to follow the data of the research easily and convey the communication with sample group better. Research has been modified with scanning model fort he direct learning of the teacher?s ideas.In the research as a tool to gather the data developed by Çitak (2001) ?The evaluation scale regarding the teacher ideas of biology education curriculum great one.? Has been developed.In the processing of the data collected,arithmetic standart deviations as well as frequency and percentageous has been calculated.In order to figure out whether there is a meaningful differences ?T Test? was run at the 0,05 level.When the group number exceeds two a single way variant analyse has been made.The statistical results revealed that teachers? answers to the dimentions of the program are as follows: Average gains = ( =3,36); content = ( =3,33); educational status = ( =3,16). These three dimensions correspond to the `partially agreed? options whereas the means of the dimentions of evaluations is ( =3,49) and it corresponds to `I agree? options.No significant differences have been found between the teachers? opinions about the elements of the syllabus (gains, content, educational status, assessment and evaluation) under the Biology Teaching Syllabus and their demographic characteristics ( sex, seniority, educational status, the faculty of graduation, knowledge of the new biology syllabus, participation in the presentations of the new syllabus). However, teachers perceptions, under the evaluation dimension of the syllabus, of the class populations at the schools where they work did reveal significant differences.Key words: High School, Biology Education Curriculum, Curriculum Evaluation
