The aim of this study is to investigate glitch as new media art and its reflection on visual communication. New media covers the full range of tools that have been renewed, changed and diversified every day, reaching out to and affecting individuals and the masses in the field of communication. New media has also brought a new perspective to the field of art. Glitch as new media art is a kind of human machine communication outcome and shifts the object of new media from its ordinary form and discourse, towards the ruins of meaning destroyed. Since there has been no research on this subject, the focus has been mostly on new media and the new media art especially glitch, its types and some criticisms about it. In order to investigate the effect of glitch on visual communication, data were collected in three stages. In the first phase, designers who meet the criteria set by field experts and are expert on glitch, are requested to express their views with a semi-structured open-ended interview form; in the second phase, the same designer group voluntarily participated in glitch implementation. The glitch results and the interviews were interpreted by document analysis. The results of the designers were gathered in a certain period of time, and the designers were interviewed in-depth and were asked to interpret the glitch results in means of glitch and visual communication. In the third phase of the research, the glitch results were evaluated by the experts in the field of visual communication design in means of visual communication language, focus group discussions were held with field experts and the researcher interpreted the evaluation process. As a result of the study, glitch as new media art has and impact on visual communication and changed some traditional concepts. Keywords: New media, New media art, Glitch, Visual communication
