The new right political understanding and the finance of politics: An analysis on USA and Turkey

With the New Right political understanding, the state has, in a sense, withdrawn to its fundamental borders and left other services other than public services, which are its main duties, to market conditions. After this decision of the state, financial owners operating under market conditions started to enter the vacant areas. This new situation that occurred in the new period accelerated the intertwining of the state and society in a sense. While the means of influence of society on the state is democracy, the means of influence of the state on society is bureaucracy. The modern concept of "Financing of Politics" was born from the relationship of these two poles that feed each other in the spiral of mutual relationship. Political financing is a broad concept that covers all financial and non-cash opportunities that parties and candidates who want to represent the voter by winning the elections need to continue their campaigns. The way in which financial support is obtained, which has become an indispensable tool for the continuation of political activities in today's conditions is remarkable in terms of our subject. In almost every country governed by democracy, parties and candidates are offered public funding. However, the inadequacy of this resource forces parties and candidates to apply for private donations. If the entry of private donations into the political arena is not regulated and sanctioned, it has the potential to seriously damage the institution of democracy. In order for the measures to be taken to be successful, all stakeholders must take joint responsibility. In the USA, which has a deep-rooted tradition of democracy and is believed to continue this tradition, financing of political parties and candidates by private individuals has now become an established tradition. In Turkey, on the other hand, the debates on this issue are still not settled and it may take time for it to mature and be accepted. As a result of the analysis of the data we obtained from our field research, it is seen that the voters in Turkey have a relatively negative opinion on this issue. In other words, according to the people who participated in the research, the financing of politics by private individuals can mostly be based on an interest, even if it is for the purpose of participation.
