Abstract (EN)

Infrastructure systems are key components that directly affect the quality of life in cities. However, over time, due to damages, failures, and deterioration of these systems, missing elements are formed in infrastructure networks. These missing elements are tried to be found by excavation operations for damage detection and repair. The aim of this thesis is to provide damage-free detection of infrastructure elements by using the ground penetrating radar method in order to eliminate the problems encountered in detection excavations for the repair of old infrastructure systems in cities and the negative effects caused by high costs. Within the scope of this study, missing infrastructure elements were identified and mapped using ground penetrating radar (GPR) at different locations in Giresun province. In this direction, water, electricity, sewerage, and telecommunication infrastructure data were stratified using GPR data and integrated with the geographic information system. In this way, a city infrastructure map was created, enabling faster and more effective execution of damage detection and repair processes. The ground penetrating radar method provides a more economically, socially, and environmentally efficient method by enabling undamaged detection of infrastructure elements and reducing excavation operations.
