Local government strategic planning and strategic management in a case study on Municipal Beykoz

Whether an institution can survive or not depends on how well it makes plans and how well it can predict the future . Fort his reason , the instituion should absorb its internal knowledge very well and should use them perfectly . With the light of this those knowledge, the plannings should be developed . Specialists also should anlayze them and should prepare its strategic plans . Operational (short term ) , tactical (medium term ) and starategic (long term ) plannings are needed fot the institution . Otherwise , it can be noticed how it could do the things better, or what could be done before it is too late . But in our country; Planning which is vital for organizations does not always have an interest .In this study, strategic planning and management apparoaches are discussed in terms of local governments. Local managements ?economic resources are scarce and citizens? demands in participation and politics and the need for qualified services makes the planning concept necessary. This concept becomes more and more important as days go by.This study analyzes that local organization can be successful by considering how important and vital of plannings step consciously. In the first part of this study, the concept of Strategy is mentioned. In the second part, have been mentioned in Strategic Management. In the third section describes the strategic planning. The fourth chapter in the Local Government and Local Government Strategic Management explained that the fifth and final section of the chapter is an example of local government, the Beykoz district of İstanbul, an eminent mayor of the Strategic Plan implementation is described.Key Words:Strategy, Strategic Planning, Strategic Management, Strategic Planning in Local Government
