Özet (EN)

The main purpose of the study is to determine the relationship between self-handicapping, self-esteem and anxiety in adults. Accordingly, Self-Handicapping Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and Beck Anxiety Scale were applied to a total of 404 participants between the ages of 18-65. Self-handicapping, self-esteem and anxiety scores show statistically significant differences according to gender. Self-handicapping, self-esteem and anxiety levels of female participants are higher than male participants. Self-handicapping levels of the participants do not show statistically significant differences according to age. However, self-esteem and anxiety levels show statistically significant differences according to age. Accordingly, participants between the ages of 51-65 have the lowest self-esteem levels. Participants between the ages of 18-24 have higher anxiety levels than the participants between the ages of 51-65. Self-handicapping, self-esteem and anxiety levels do not show statistically significant differences between marital status, education and income levels. Self-handicapping and self-esteem levels of the participants show statistically significant differences according to employment status. Self-handicapping and self-esteem scores of the non-workers are higher than the workers.
