Professional behavior of executive nurses relationship with management stress

This study was carried out as a descriptive and relationship seeker in order to determine the relationship between manager nurses' professionalism behaviors and managerial stress. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 154 nurses working in managerial positions in five hospitals in Konya. The data were collected with the Socio-Demographical Information Form prepared by the researchers, the Behavioral Inventory for Professionalism in Nursing (HPDE) and the Managerial Stress Scale (YÖ). Data were evaluated with t-test, analysis of variance, ANOVA tests and pearson correlation analyzes in independent groups. The significance level was accepted as p<0.05. It has been determined that 73.4% of the executive nurses are women, 57.8% have a bachelor's degree or higher education and 60.4% have been working as a manager nurse for 1-5 years. The professional behavior scale total score average of the participants was 5.26±3.34, and the managerial stress scale total score average was 103.53±30.11. The demographic variables affecting the professional behavior scale were found to be gender and seniority in management. Women have higher professional behavior scores than men, those with more seniority in management than those with low seniority. The factors that affect the managerial stress scale are age, education level and seniority in the profession. As age and seniority in the profession increase, the managerial stress score also increases. Nurses with a bachelor's degree or higher have higher levels of managerial stress. There is no statistically significant relationship between the total scores of the two scales. However, there is a positive correlation between the professional behavior scale sub-dimensions, educational preparation sub-dimension, and total managerial stress scores. According to the results of the study, the professional behavior levels of the manager nurses are low and their managerial stress levels are moderately high. At the same time, professionalism behavior and managerial stress levels of nurse managers are not interrelated factors. Conducting studies in large groups in order to examine the professionalism behaviors and stress situations of manager nurses will shed more light on this issue.
