Comparison of Yüksel Pazarkaya's "Oturma İzni" and Feridun Zaimoğlu's "Siebentürmeviertel" in terms of Turkish cultural elements

Germany needed a workforce to develop its economy after the war and signed a labor migration agreement with Türkiye on 31 October, 1961. After this agreement, the migration of workers to Germany officially started. Turkish migrant workers who went to Germany from Türkiye planned to stay in Germany for a while, work, save some money and return. However, thanks to the right to family reunification, which the German government gave to these migrant workers, Turkish migrant workers who took their families with them, started to live in Germany completely. Some of these migrants started to express the problems that migrants have in Germany, their feelings, and the longing for their homeland. Thus, Turkish immigration literature which can be considered as a new genre of literature emerged and Turkish immigrant writers continued to write under this concept from generation to generation. In this study, the degree of reflection of Turkish culture in the works of the first generation and second-generation writers that are selected from the Turkish immigration literature that emerged with the migration of Turkish workers to Germany are examined and compared. In the study, first generation writer Yüksel Pazarkaya's "Oturma İzni" and Feridun Zaimoğlu's "Siebentürmeviertel" are discussed. In the first section of my study, migration is discussed from conceptual, cultural, social and cultural aspects. In the second section, information about culture is given. The concepts of enculturation (Enkulturation), acculturation (Akkulturation), assimilation (Assimilation) and integration (Integration) are explained. In the third part of my study, information is given on the origin, historical development, generations, topics and authors of migrant literature. In the last part of my work, Yüksel Pazarkaya's book "Oturma İzni" and Feridun Zaimoğlu's novel "Siebentürmeviertel" were analyzed and compared.
