Hadith and sunnah in the Zahiri sect

Determining The Prophet's hadiths, understanding them correctly and passing them to the following generation has been one of the main aims of the Islamic scholar, especially muhaddis and fakihs. Thus, in our study, Zâhirî scholars handled hadiths of The Prophet and discussed methods to understand and interpret them. Zâhirî scholars have been involved in almost all of the issues around news, sunnah and hadith, and they brought on their own thoughts. However, the Zâhirî scholars, who were not completely homogeneous in their approach to the issues, also opposed most of the hadiths and fakihs on some issues. Weak hadiths and their meanings are some of these issues. It has also been mentioned, in our study, that Zâhirî scholars have preconceived opinions of the accuracy and meaning of the hadiths. In this this context, it has been seen that the Zâhirî scholars frequently use the criteria of text criticism as well as the isnad in determining the accuracy of the hadiths. Furthermore, the methods of understanding and interpreting the hadiths were examined by the Zâhirî scholars. Along with literal approaches, Zâhirîs also considered the duty of The Prophet to declare religion. It has been determined that the Zâhirî also attach importance to human values and adopt approaches that consider the purpose of the Hadiths as well as the principles such as burden, necessity and the sanctity of human property, life and honor. In this respect, it can be said that it is wrong to say that the Zâhirîs are entirely dependent on words.
