The family life of Uşak in the years 1923?1924 according to the 10 number of Uşak Şer?iye Record

The şeriyye records which include the political, social, economical and culturel characteristics of Ottomans are one of the most important records of Ottoman History. These records cover a long period that starts with 15th century and continues to the first quarter of 16th century. For that reason these sources have importance due to their help for understanding the social life.The aim of this work is to inquire and comment the family life of Uşak in 1923 and 1924 in terms of the 10th (number) journal of seriyye records. The 10 th journal of Şeriyye Record which is the main resource of this thesis is constituted of 203 pages and includes the years 1923 and 1924. The record consists of the court records about the law of domestic relations.The thesis has five main parts. The definition and content of 10th (number) journal of Şeriyye records is given in introduction part. In first part, şeriyye records and judicial structure of Ottoman Empire are mentioned in general. The family structure in Ottomans are cited in the second part. In third part, the the family life of Uşak in 1923 and 1924 is given in terms of the record which is serached during this work. In fourth part, the daily life of inhabitants are alluded. Final part has summary of the documents which are inquired during this work.
