Examination of benefitting of 10th grade students from school counseling and guidance services

The aim of this study is to examine the level of benefiting from guidance and psychological counseling services of 10th grade students. Population was the 10th grade students in Siirt City Centre. The sample of the research included 896 10th grade students in five different high schools in Siirt City Centre. Personal Information Form and "Student Questionnaire" developed by Oran (2013) were used as data collection tools in the research. According to the results obtained from the demographic variables and perceptions regarding school guidance and psychological counseling services, it was seen that the students had medium level participation in all sub-dimensions of guidance and psychological counseling services. In addition, it is seen that the dimension of beneficiation of the students in the sub-dimensions of guidance and psychological counseling services is the sub-dimension of "Trusting the school counselor". The sub-dimension with the lowest participation was found as the sub-dimension of "perceiving school guidance services as a need". According to the findings of the differences in the level of school counseling and guidance services according to the demographic variables of the 10th grade students, it was seen that the difference in all sub-dimensions was significant in terms of the utilization of school counseling and guidance services before. In addition, it was found that the difference of the sub-dimensions of school counseling and guidance services in terms of grade point average and mother education level was significant. In the light of the results obtained from the study, information about the current situation regarding the perceptions and opinions about school counseling and guidance services of 10th grade students in Siirt City Center was obtained. It is thought that the results may contribute to the arrangements for advanced research and school counseling and guidance services.
