Abstract (EN)
The Greeks of Greece and Cyprus waged a long-standing "Enosis" struggle to turn Cyprus into a Greek island within the framework of the idea of "Megali Idea". Within the framework of this struggle, many violent events were carried out by the Greeks on the island. With the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960 and Cyprus becoming an independent state, the end of British authority on the island left the Greeks and Turks alone. The idea that an environment suitable for the realization of Enosis has been created for the Greek-Greek Megali Idea since this date, has led to an increase in Enosis activities. In 1963, the famous "Akritas Plan" was put into effect, and a massacre began against the Turks. According to the Akritas Plan, the Turks on the island would be destroyed. As a result of Turkey's military intervention threats and diplomatic efforts, these events, which lasted until 1964, were stopped. Turkish Cypriots have been subjected to Greek violence at various times since December 1963, depending on the time and place. He was excluded from the republican assembly and the Cypriot administration. Due to Turkey's guarantor concept and effective Cyprus policy, it was understood that Enosis could only be realized by bringing a fait accompli at an appropriate time. If this was a fait accompli, it would be the July 15, 1974 Cyprus Coup. The Cyprus Coup is an important event for Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, and the geography of the region. Because of this coup, Turkey made a landing in Cyprus. Again, after this coup, the administrations changed in Cyprus and Greece, and the coup governments in both countries had to leave the task. In addition, as a result of the developments after this coup, a Turkish state was established in Cyprus. As a result of this coup, the countries of the region and the sovereign powers updated their Eastern Mediterranean policy. The "Cyprus Coup", which is very important in terms of its results, has been tried to be examined with all its causes, preparatory elements, experiences and results. The coup in question, which took place in July 1974, has multiple causes as well as multiple consequences. In addition, Turkey has had significant effects on Cyprus politics.
