Test development study on spatial visualization for 2nd grade students

With this study, a valid and reliable test sections measuring the spatial visualization properties of 2nd grade students. The study was carried out with the scanning method and to work in accordance with the test development steps. In the 2021-2022 academic year, 396 students studying in the 2nd grade in some provinces in Turkey constitute their education. Within the scope of the study, a test reading consisting of 12 questions of three sub-items (mental integration, mental rotation and paper folding) scale of spatial visualization skill. The 12-item Spatial Visualization Test was piloted to 296 students. According to the measurement obtained with the pilot application, consumers are generally medium and difficult, and their distinctiveness is very good. The KR- 20 interconnection coefficient of the final test, which was reduced to 10 items after factor analysis, was calculated as 0.63. While the average strength index of the test was 0.35, the average discrimination index was 0.48. As a result, a valid and reliable test for 2nd grade environments in Working Spatial Visualization has been obtained. In addition, the perception that the spatial visualization of the 2nd grade students is low has been reached.
