Abstract (EN)

Vitamin D deficiency is a common health problem all around the world. Insulin resistance is the location of the release of insulin production on pancreaticβ-cells.Until this resistance develops its effects in target cells, it can be defined as the reduction effects that may occurat any stage.Vitamin Dpreventto diseases caused by insulin resistance, and its deficiency causes to facilitate the diseases. In our outpatient clinics, we follow up many patients with vitamin D deficiency and insulin resistance. In this research, we aimed to present demographic properties, other diseases,and vitamin D levelsofpatient who has insulin resistance and compare them with healthy individuals by investigating their records retrospectively. In this study,we compare the patients who applied to Family Medicine Clinics of Ankara Atatürk Education and Research Hospital between 01.01.2014-01.01.2015,that have insulin resistance with healthy individuals. This is a cross-sectional and observatory research conducted by retrospectively investigating records of 6182 patients whowere screened for serum vitamin D levels.We excluded the patient whose age < 18 and who have hypothyroidism, diabetes mellitus, essential (primary) hypertension, chronic ischemic heart disease, hyperlipidemia, chronic liver disease diagnosis. We include the 669 patient who have fasting plasma glucose and fasting plasma insulin. We used the homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) . In our clinic, we studied vitamin D levels assessedin spring 1254 people among 6182, of which 25.1%severe deficiency, 50.5% deficiency, 14.8%insufficiency, andit was found as 9.6% ofnormal. 56 patients among 669 patients evaluated in our study's serum vitamin D level (8.4%) normal (≥30 ng /mL). 418's (62.5%) were not detected insulin resistance, beside this insulin resistance was detectedin 251 patients, respectively. In 2014 at Ankara Atatürk Education and Research Hospital Research Family Medicineclinics,there was no significant relationship between insulin resistance in patients with healthy individuals of vitamin D (p0.533). Many people in our country do not benefit adequately from the sun. Therefore,vitamin D deficiencyis common, and it is suggested that treatment with vitamin D supplementation should be started.
