Abstract (EN)
Preschool period forms the basis of the child's life. This is a period in which the child develops and learns the fastest. Books prepared for children are of special importance in this period, where visual learning is at the forefront. Children who haven't learned to read yet in the age of 4-6 read the story in books and develop their imagination. In this period when reading habits are formed, children's books are especially important with their illustrations. Sever (2003: 174) states that children should be presented with the tools that can provide the best aesthetic value when the interaction of the stimulants that children come across for the first time is taken into consideration in their whole lives. For this reason, it is known that illustrations for children's books support development in many areas of children. The communication of children between the ages of 4-6 is realized by their parents reading the book, hearing the words and seeing the illustrations. Children's books prepared for children in this age period are in the foreground with their illustrations. As a matter of fact, in this study, it was questioned how often parents of children aged 4-6 bought books, how much attention they paid to the designs, illustrations (illustrations) of the books they received, whether they were aware of this and what kind of expectation they received from the books. In addition, many successful children's book illustrations have been questioned by valuable experts and information on what they pay attention to in illustrations and how they follow the process have been obtained.
