Abstract (EN)
The records of sharia courts are the essential reference source and hold a mirror to their own period in terms of Ottoman historiography. They are the firsthand documents on the social, economic, political, cultural, administrative and organizational structure of the Ottoman period. 607 No. Diyarbakir Sharia Court Records, composed of 80 pages, deal with various events taking place in especially Amid between Hijri 1255-1257/Gregorian 1839-1841 and form the basis of this study. In this study, a brief information was given on primarily Ottoman Sharia Courts and their history, officials and records containing the decisions taken there. Then Diyarbakir Sharia Court Records number 607 kept in the central town, Amid, of the Diyarbekir province were translated. In the last part of the study, an evaluation was made, based on the information in the records. Keywords The Ottoman Empire, Diyarbakir, Judge, Court Records, the Sharia Court.
