Abstract (EN)

The fundamental aim of this research is to determine the variables which predict math success of eighth grade students in secondary school. Besides, it is also aimed to examine math success, test and math anxiety and math self efficacyin terms of the variables which are gender, school's TEOG math success level, educatıonal status of mother and father, financial status of the family, perception of math achievement, attending to private teaching centres / study centre and taking private lessons in math. The research was conducted with the participation of 314 students in total that comprise 156 male (49,7%) and 158 (50,3%) female students from İzmir province. Personal information form, Math Anxiety Scale for Secondary School Students, Westside Test Anxiety Scale and Math Self EfficacyScale. Test were used as data gathering tools. Due to normal distribution of thedata, t-test and one-way analysis of variance was applied. Furthermore, Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated and regression analysis were conducted. As a result of the research, medium-level and positively significant correlations were determined between math success and math self efficacy. Medium-level andnegatively significant correlation were determined between math success and testanxiety. Moreover, it was revealed that 34% of variance in mathematics successwas explained respectively by math self efficacy, math and test anxiety. Medium-level and positively significant correlations were determined between TEOG math success and math self efficacy. Medium-level and negatively significant correlation were determined between TEOG math success and test anxiety. Moreover, it was revealed that 31% of variance in mathematics success was explained respectively by math self efficacy, math and test anxiety. KEY WORDS: Test and Maths Anxiety, Maths Self Efficacy, Math Success,TEOG Math Success
