Abstract (EN)

Aim: Use of the internet began in 1960s in the United States and in a short time it spread quickly all over the world. Nowadays, internet is an important tool in social life, but its unhealthy usage may lead to various problems in individuals'lives. The aim of this study is find the relationship between anger, aggression and internet addiction in high school students living in Adana city center. Material and Method: The universe of our study is the high school students in Adana city center in 2014 – 2015. After taking into consideration the properties of the high schools, 1254 students were chosen as the sample using the weighted random cluster sampling method. Schools and classes were determined based on random numbers table. The total number of questionnaires included in the study was 1435. Data were collected by sosyodemographic questionnaire, internet addiction test, state trait anger and anger expression style scale and aggression questionnaire. Results: Of the students 43,7 % was male. Mean age was 16,08 + 0,95 years. Of the students, 4,7 % declared that they were not using internet. 17,4 % of students were risky internet users and 2,4 % were internet addicted. Total score of internet addiction incrases was found to increase in the total average score of trait anger, anger kept inside, outside shot in anger, physical aggression, verbal aggression, anger, hostility, indirect aggression and total aggression scores. Conclusion: Problematic internet use is common in adolescents and thought to be associated with anger and aggression. Comprehensive education for the family and adolescent is essential.
