Examination of the relationship between job stress and job satisfaction in social workers working in the forensic system

This work was conducted to research the relationship between job stress and job satisfaction of social workers working in the forensic system in Turkey. The research was carried out with quantitative research method and relational screening model. The population of the research is composed of social workers who work in forensic social work in Turkey. The sample of this research is constituted from 180 employee among social workers working in depending on the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey in various provinces, penal instutions, family and juvenile courts, probation offices. Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale was used to measure the job satisfaction and The Job Stress Scale was used to measure the job stress. The data were analyzed in the SPSS 22 program. The independent variable of the research is job stress, the dependent variable is job satisfaction. According to the research findings, it has been determined that the job stress of social workers working in the forensic system is at the level of stress that can affect productivity and threaten health. It has been determined that the satisfaction provided by the experts for the job(intrinsic satisfaction) was high, but the satisfaction provided by the working conditions(extrinsic satisfaction) was low. It has been determined that there is a moderate, negative and meaningful relationship between job stress and job satisfaction sub-dimensions of forensic social workers. As a result of the findings, this research will increase job satisfaction and job quality of the experts at working conditions; It is thought to be helpful in determining the factors that will reduce job stresses. Also it is thought that this research will provide resources for other researches in forensic social work.
