Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study has been carried out as a methodological type in order to determine the validity and reliability of Turkish version of Severity of Alcohol Dependence Questionnaire developed by Tim Stockwell and colleagues in 1983 for the purpose of evaluating the severity of dependence in people with alcohol use disorder. Method: The present study was conducted with an adult sample of 200 participants with alcohol use disorder diagnosis according to DSM-5 criteria, applied to Ege University Institute on Drug Abuse, Toxicology and Pharmaceutical Sciences April 2014 between April 2015. After examining the linguistic equivalence, validity and reliability analyzes were performed .37 participants fulfilled the questionnaire by two weeks interval in order to determine test-retest reliability. All patients evaluated with Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test for comparing their scores. Results: Considering the internal consistency reliability of scale, Cronbach's Alpha Reliability Coefficient was found to be α=0.914. Item and Total Score Correlation Coefficients of the scale items were found between 0.309 (SADQ 13) and 0.730 (SADQ 11) (p< 0.01). The mean scores obtained by the reliability analysis (test – retest) that was conducted in attempt to evaluate the time invariance of the scale and its sub dimensions, compared with t test in the dependent groups and it was found that the difference were not statistically significant. Additionally, test-retest corelation coefficient of scale was found 0.855 (p<0.01). For identifying scale-related validity, correlation between mean score of SADQ and MATT was estimated. Positive strong relationship was found between the two scales (r=0,557 p<0,001).As a result of, factor analysis, four sub dimensions were identified. Factor loadings were estimated between 0.49-0.91. Conclusion: Results which were obtained in this study suggests that the Turkish version of the SADQ with four factor solution could be used as a reliable and valid instrument in determining severity of alcohol dependence.
