Abstract (EN)

Research and observations of natural materials are being conducted to understand the appropriate uses for a material within natural systems. Since the dawn of time, humans sought shelter in natural structures for survival. To meet their basic needs, solutions were sought from time to time against nature, from time to time by exploring nature. Humans, being users at design, had sought natural spaces first to protect their bodies, and then to store food. While searching for these places, they developed solutions to shelter in different geographical conditions and cultures. They created living spaces for their lives with or against their own species and other living things. With the transition of humans from hunting-gathering to farming and specialized trades in the Neolithic period, their search for shelter was shaped by their physical surroundings. The first local settlements formed and cultures began to meet their needs and search for places in this period. Since the Neolithic period, the only place where humans have settled and sheltered by continuing the mutual struggle with nature and observations parallel to nature has been the "house". It has been seen that more successful and healthy results are often obtained when the user creates solutions with the living creatures in nature and local material contents, rather than against them, and when the user can make plans sensitive to himself and his geography in search of space. The traditional house concept, suitable for each culture's own local texture, will be analyzed by considering the definition of "Biophilic Design" as the most up-to-date nature approach in architecture and other fields of science, through examples from Turkey.
