Evaluation of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of anesthesia technicians against adult perion vaccinations

Objectıve: The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge, attitude, behavior and opposition to vaccination of the anesthesia technicians who follow the social media pages that provide anesthesia training Methods: Our study is a cross-sectional study conducted within the scope of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. The population of the research consists of approximately 5000 anesthesia technicians who follow their social media pages (anestezi_gunluğu, ahmetemreazaklı, anestezinin_içsesi etc.). In the online questionnaire, 14 were socio-demographic, 1 (12 sub-items) "Vaccine Hesitancy Scales", 15 were knowledge, 15 were attitude, and 2 were there are behavioral questions. Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests were used for statistical evaluation. Results: In our study, 1600 individuals were reached. The average age is 24±6,15. 79.2% are women, 84.9% are married, 88.9% have no children and 12.4% have a chronic disease. 16% of participants have never been vaccinated, 3,7% had all their vaccinations. The most known and applied vaccine is COVID-19, the least known and applied vaccine is the Inactivated Polio vaccine. The mean opposition to vaccination of the respondents was 28.67 ± 6.64 (min-max: 12-60). Conclusion: It was observed that although the immunization knowledge level of the anesthesia technicians was relatively low, their attitudes towards immunization were positive. However, it was determined that the adult vaccination rates were not at an acceptable level. When the necessary training and guidance is provided, it may be possible to immunize this group, which is at risk for infectious diseases, at the desired level.
