To compare explication method with project based learning method by means of the student success and learning efficiency

With traditional teaching methods is very difficult to bring in higher level skills to the student. Instead of these kind of teaching methods, that binds the students to the referance books and to banish the student from research; student centered, based on research and examination,supported with group studies, should be used alternative methods that lets students solving problems and making them to think in high level. Project based learning is one of these alternative methods.This research, compares project based learning method with a traditional explication method according to student success efficiency applied in 2008-2009 Educational-Teaching year, 1st semester to the Ankara Kalecik district Ahiler Primary School 7th grade 24 students and Cumhuriyet Primary School 16 students.In the research, the front test-last test control grouped assay model has been applied.Findings of this research are collected on tests. Before education, the forms that applied to the students to know the personal informations about them and their families and life activities that they are involving. Also a knowledge test about `?The Reasons Of Corruptions Of The Nutrients And Prevent Corruption Fermentation?? and at the end to applie the same test and a performance examination form.After 4 weeks appliance period findings are collected, datas are analyzed by using the program SPSS 15.00 (Statistical Package of The Social Sciences) with percentage frequency dispersal, findings tabled and the comparison of the meaningness between the front and last tests of the groups with performance examination success `?Independent-Samples T Test?? used. Exposition of the datas that collected, 0.5 meaningless level is accepted and finidings is exposited.As a result of the findings, it has been seen that ,the difference in the front test and last test grades of test and control group is meaningful. On the orher hand the difference, between the answers given by both groups for the performance evaluation questions, is meaningful also. It has been determined that, project based learning method applied to test group students is more effective on the success of the student as compared with the explication method applied to control group students.In the last section, the suggestions of the researcher has been introduced, by considering the results of the study..Keywords: Project Based Learning, Student Success, Problem Solving
