Abstract (EN)

In this research, it was aimed to examine the relationship between mothers' parental attitudes and emotional regulation with the well-being of children in the 5- year-old age group attending preschool education. The study group of the research consists of 381 children and their mothers who continue their preschool education in kindergartens and nursery classes in the districts of Kadıköy, Üsküdar, and Ümraniye, which are among the districts of the Anatolian side of Istanbul, in 2022- 2023 academic year. In the collection of data; Social Emotional Well Being and Pyscological Resilence Scale (PERİK), Parental Attitude Scale (PAS)-A Form, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS)-Short Form, and personal information forms were used. The measurement tool for the variable of well-being was filled in on behalf of the preschool children by the preschool teachers. Pearson Correlation Analysis and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis were used to answer the proposed problems of the research. According to the findings obtained as a result of the correlation analysis; There is a positive relationship between the well-being of children and the democratic attitudes of mothers, and a negative relationship with their oppressive authoritarian attitudes. However, a negative relationship was found between the well-being of children and the difficulties of emotional regulation of mothers. In addition, it was concluded that there was a negative relationship between mothers' emotional regulation difficulties and their democratic attitudes and a positive relationship between their oppressive authoritarian attitudes. According to the findings obtained as a result of the regression analysis, it has been determined that the oppressive-authoritarian attitude of mothers predicts the well-being level of their children at a negative significant level, and the democratic attitude of mothers predicts the well-being levels of children at a positive significant level. In addition, it was concluded that the mother's (age, educational status, marital status, work status, income status) and the child (number of siblings and birth order) which are independent variables, do not significantly predict the well-being levels of their children. However, it has been found that the well-being of children is predicted by gender at a negative significant level and the duration of school attendance at a positive significant level.
