Abstract (EN)

This study researches routes to follow today while staging the Ancient Greek Tragedies written around 2500 years ago. The first part focuses on the development and staging of tragedy in its golden age, Athens during the 5th Century BC. The second part focuses on the contemporary staging and samples of tragedies. This part also researches the Medea in mythology, addressing the works of artists who have been inspired by Medea so far. The third part concentrates on how tragedies ought to be staged today, analyzing in detail the modern interpretation by the Trabzon State Theater which has used various narration techniques. As a result, this study concludes that, as is the case for all theater plays, there is no final way to interpret the Ancient Greek tragedies and that they will flourish with every new interpretation in the hands of each new director. Keywords: Ancient Greek tragedies, Medea, Trabzon State Theatre, Contemporary directors, Director
