Abstract (EN)
Radiation exposure among radiologists and radiographers has become a concern. The level of radiation safety knowledge influences them. If there is a lack of protection knowledge, their actions won't be safe and may have unfavorable consequences. The study aimed to assess and reduce radiation risks for health workers in the radiation fields. A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Morgan and Imam Sadiq hospitals. The sample size was 200 workers. They were selected using random sampling and then interviewed by the questionnaire elements. Age groups (31-35 years) and (41-45 years) show good assessment levels (1.511± 0.178) and (1.623±0.127), respectively. While workers who have postgraduate certificates with an evaluation (1.592±0.157). As for career, the study found that radiologists have good scores (1.636±0.00) followed by radiologic technologists (1.500±0.186). The present study reveals that the mean of overall prevention and safety measures assessment was 16.33±2.24, which rested within poor levels (<17 scores). The results of this study indicate that the highest percentage (56.5%) of the participants have a poor assessment score for prevention and safety measures. In contrast, 43.5% of them with a good score. The study found that workers in the radiation field who have served more than ten years show a good assessment score regarding occupational health and safety measures. This study also recommends training courses and ensuring the necessary radiation protection tools available for newly hired employees.
