Climate change perspectives of far-right parties in the European Union

Effects of climate change felt more and more and accordingly, it is being discussed more and more in the international public opinion. The attitudes and actions of individuals and states on this issue have become increasingly important in this period, Anthropocene era iktiwhich the power of human beings to influence nature has reached enormous dimensions. In this direction, the attitudes of far-right parties, which are come to power in some countries in the European Union and are considered to have a negative approach to the reality of climate change and the policies implemented, have also gained importance. In this context, this study examines the attitudes towards climate change of the 10 parties that make up the Identity and Democracy Group in the European Union as a result of the European Parliament elections in 2019. Considering that both climate change and the populist far-right phenomenon will become increasingly important in the future, we need to think about what kind of outcomes and transformations may be experienced in the future. In this direction, this thesis examines the programs and statements of the parties and their climate change policies and tries to reveal the similarities and differences between them.
