Evaluation of teachers' opions in relation with English teaching in primary schools on the bases of European Union vision (Diyarbakır sample)

With this investigation, it is aimed to bring out the ideas of teachers who are working in the center of Diyarbakır province, about teaching English in primary schools based on European Union vision. With this purpose, to mention about the key words of the investigation will be usefull. European union vision is defined in a banch of source as a guide to reach to the aims in the way of contemporary civilisation and to be a succesfull society. Whereas european union vision represents cosmic mirror by leaving with experience rather than quality source in Turkish society?s gowth leaning to the its roots. Again in this context; English or a foreign language is not an unrelinquishable object in the European Union vision, it is only a way of self expressing that people use. Primary school can be defined as the most important step where learning starts and the posing of student against education is determined. Also when evaluated the place in the education life can be defined as most important step with the reason of being the longest and the primary portion where bases are constructed. The universe of the investigation is constitued by 2520 teachers who perform in 94 primary schools located in the center of Diyarbakır province. Sample of the research is again formed by 529 teachers selected by random method out of universe. In the research, first of all, the data gathered from center of city have beeen registered, later on this data have been analysed by using SPSS pocket program. While making statictical analysis, when independent variables, which have two variables, have been compared (gender, rank in duty), t-test has been used. On the other hand, when independent variables which have more than two variables have been compared, single directional variance analysis has been used. Significance level used in the hypothesis tests is assumed to be 0.05. As a summary, at the end of the data analysis, following result have been obtained: 1. It has not been encountered any significant diffrence among the perception there has not been found any significant difference among the perception of teachers with regard to foreign language education in Primary School, according to their education level, seniority, grade being worked and gender variant. According to their education level, seniority, grade being worked and gender variant, the ideas of teacher working in the primary schools occured in ?participate? degree. 2. When the perception of teachers working in Primary School have been evaluated generally with regard to English teaching on the basis of European Union, teacher have reported ?participate? degree.
