The Book of Mebde-i Nur Masnavi of Baba Rahim Mashrab deals with Baba Rahim Mashrab and Mebde-i Nur which is one of his works. Baba Rahim Mashrab who lived in Central Asia between 1640-1711, is a sufi poet. Baba Rahim Mashrab, a Melami-Kalenderi dervish, took his first training from sufi Ahund Molla Bazar in Nemengan. Then he continued his education in the dervish lodge of famous sufi Afak Hodja in Kaşgar. He stayed in tde lodges of Afak Hodja for seven years and developed his religious-mystical knowledge. But falling in love with one of the girls in the lodge caused him to be discharged. He spent the rest of his life as a traveller dervish. One of the works he wrote was the book of Mebde-i Nûr. It was written with the inspiration of Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumî?s Masnavi-yi Manevi. The work was in verse which was written in the style of rhymed couplets. It was at the same metre as Masnavi-yi Manevî and written at the same style. In the work, there are 42 verses quoted from Masnavi. The ideas in the verses were explained and religious-mystical advices were told by stories and lyric poems in it. It was constitued from three parts. In the first part there were 3978 verses, in the second part 3663 verses and third part there were 1267 verses. In the work, there were 8908 verses in total. Mebde-i Nûr which was belonged to the last period of Chagatay Turkish, is an important work according to its vocabulary as well as its language features. The language characteristics of Classical Chagatay Turkish was knıwn and most of the works belonged to this period, were studied. But the language characteristics of the last period of Chagatay Turkish hasn?t been fully revealed yet. Mebde-i Nûr is fairly rich according to its language materials. In Mebde-i Nûr, same kind of language characteristics different from Classical period language characteristics of Chagatay Turkish are seen. The book of Mebde-i Nûr is also important because it shows how sufi poet Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumî affects through Central Asia. It is a widely read work in Central Asia.
