Does their adaptation to treatment of hypertension patients admitted to the emergency department with headache affect pain and hemodynamic parameters?

Aim: In the study, it was aimed to examine the effects of hypertensive patients who were admitted to the emergency department with headache, on hemodynamic parameters and pain observed as a result of their compliance with hypertension treatment. Method: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 295 patients diagnosed with headache and hypertension. Hemodynamic parameters and pain intensity of the patients were evaluated. The Hill- Bone Hypertension Treatment Compliance Scale was used to evaluate the patients' compliance with the treatment. Results: The mean systolic blood pressure score of the patients was 184.97 ± 20.02, the mean diastolic blood pressure score was 92.97 ± 14.11, the mean pulse rate score was 79.05 ± 15.18, the O2 saturation value mean score was 97.24 ± 1, 51, body temperature value mean score was 36.57 ± 0.35, respiratory rate mean score was 15.50 ± 2.67, pain severity mean score was 7.14 ± 1.11. When the scale and sub-state of patients' compliance with HT treatment were evaluated; The medical subscale was 63 ± 2.53, the nutrition subscale was 5.54 ± 1.70, the interview subscale was 5.30 ± 1.64, and the compliance with treatment was 21.48 ± 4.32. The mean score of the patients' treatment compliance scale was determined as 21.48 ± 4.32. It was found that the patients' compliance with the treatment affected the respiratory rate (p = 0.027) and the respiratory rate explained 17% of the compliance with the hypertension treatment (R2 = 0.017). Conclusion: It was observed that the systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure of the patients were high, the pulse rate was in the mean values, O2 saturation, body temperature and respiratory rate were also normal. Pain severity was found to be very severe. Compliance of hypertensive patients who presented to the emergency department with headache did not affect the pain and blood pressure, but it did affect the pulse rate and respiratory rate. It was determined that the patients were incompatible with hypertension treatment.
