Abstract (EN)

The effects of foam roller on muscle joint structure (tension, injury, muscle strength, delayed muscle pain) have been included in many studies. Studies on the effects of time-dependent foaming applications on splash performance are very limited. In this study, it was aimed to examine the effects of time-dependent foam roller use on vertical jump performance in basketball players. The population of the research consists of 150 athletes playing in Fenerbahçe basketball school in Istanbul Göktürk town, and the sample consists of 35 male athletes playing basketball in the same club. Height scale was used for the measurement of height from the physical characteristics of the athletes, Tanita brand weighing instrument (0.01gr) was used for body weight, and the surgent jump test was applied for explosive power measurements. After the physical measurements (height, body weight) of the participants were taken, the jump test was performed. 3 minutes after the test; first the right leg, then the left leg; Foam roller application was applied on each muscle, including calf, quadriceps femoris and iliotibial band regions, for 1 minute, and the jump test was repeated as soon as the foam roller application was finished. The tests applied one week later were repeated; foam roller application time to each region was increased to 3 minutes. After performing the normality test, in the evaluation of the data showing normal distribution; t test was used for pairwise comparisons and Anova test was used for more than two comparisons. Mann Whitney-U Test was used for pairwise comparisons in those who did not show normal distribution. Evaluations were made with a confidence interval of p<0.05. It is seen that while the arithmetic average of the foam roller detection 3 minutes and 9 minutes scores was X = 41.94 for the general 3-minute targeted mean scores, the 9 minute point arithmetic mean was X = 44.28. The scored 2.34 between the averages of 3 minutes and 9 minutes. As a result of the "Dependent Sample T Test" (Paired-Samples T Test) conducted to determine whether this difference is beneficial or not, it is seen that the difference has an effect (t= -2.140, p<0.05). This ultimately suggests that the foam roller detection experimenters have a set of players' tasks. Keywords: Foam roller, Surget jump, Fascia
