Examination of physical education teachers' teaching-learning concepts and their levels of professional satisfaction

In this study, it was aimed to examine the teaching-learning understanding of physical education teachers and their professional satisfaction levels. A total of 310 physical education teachers, 129 female and 181 male, working in primary and high schools in Afyonkarahisar and Muğla provinces participated in the research. "Personal Information Form", "Teaching and Learning Concepts Scale" and "Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale" were used in the data collection process of the research. In the data analysis process, SPSS 22.0 program One Way ANOVA, Independent Samples test analysis, Pearson Correlation analysis and Multiplicity Linear Regression analysis were used. At the end of the study, it was found that the teachers participating in the research had a high level of constructivist understanding in the teaching-learning process scale, while their traditional understanding levels were below the medium level. It has been determined that the professional satisfaction of the teachers is above the medium level. Teachers' teaching-learning conceptions are related to age group, gender, marital status, professional seniority, teaching status, location of the school, type of school, weekly course hours, willingness to choose the profession, receiving sufficient support from the school administration, and finding the teaching income sufficient. It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference. (p>0.05). It was found that the professional satisfaction levels of the teachers differed significantly only according to the variables of marital status, choosing the profession voluntarily, getting support from the school administration, finding the teaching income sufficient and weekly course hours (p<0.05). In addition, it was observed that there was a positive and significant relationship between teachers' teaching-learning understanding and their professional satisfaction levels (p<0.05). As a result, it can be pointed out that the teaching-learning conceptions of physical education teachers are determinative on professional satisfaction.
