The relationship between resilience degree and perceived parental relationship, cognitive emotion regulation and personality traits in the emerging adulthood

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between resilience degree and perceived parental relationship, cognitive emotion regulation and personality traits in emerging adulthood. The sample of the study consists of undergraduate students who study at Diyarbakır Dicle University and whose age range is 18-25. The research was conducted with 609 people, 317 (52%) female and 292 (48%) male students. Resiliency Scale (RS), Barrett-Lennard Relationship Inventory (BLIE), Cognitive Emotion Regulation Scale (CERS), Five Factor Personality Scale (FFPS) and Demographic Information Form were applied to the participants. In the study, firstly, whether there is a significant difference in terms of resilience between demographic variables such as gender, years of bachelor studies, university entrance year, income level, parental loss was investigated by one-way ANOVA analysis. Pearson correlation coefficient analysis was performed to examine whether there was a relationship. Then, a hierarchical regression analysis was performed in order to determine the predictive relationships between the variables of the study. The results of the study revealed that perceived parental relationship, cognitive emotion regulation, and personality traits were significantly associated with resilience, as predicted. The results of the study were discussed in the context of the literature, results and presented with suggestions.
