Abstract (EN)

This study begins with the premise that eating is not only a biological necessity but also a cultural phenomenon. Its objective is to investigate the role of food as a cultural practice in shaping social memory and to assess the potential for museums to reflect this relationship. To accomplish this, a qualitative research design was employed, examining 15 nutrition museums across various countries through the case study method. The museums were compared based on their collections, thematic focuses, educational programs, and methods of visitor engagement. The findings reveal that museums play a crucial role in preserving food culture and passing it on to future generations. Most of the museums analyzed offer rich exhibitions that document local and national gastronomic heritage. Additionally, they encourage visitor involvement, particularly among children, through interactive exhibitions and activities. In light of these findings, it is recommended that an educational nutrition museum targeting children be established in Turkey. Such a museum would not only preserve Turkey's vibrant food culture and social memory but also foster cultural heritage awareness in young learners through engaging, interactive learning environments.
