Abstract (EN)

The concept of modern literature was criticized in critical modernist period. Modernist writers like James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Elias Canette, William Faulkner substantially undermined the concept of modern literature. However, appearance of a new literature concept waited for 1960s. Postmodern literature that has a very different concept from modern thinking came out in that years. This new literature concept spreaded throughout the world in a short time. Turkish writers was impressed by this wave, too. Especially after the 1980, Turkish literature began to produce successful examples of postmodern works. Bilge Karasu who started to write his works after 1960 is one of them. He especially used postmodern literature concept for his late works. I tried to give general informations about postmodernism in the first chapter. Before starting the detection of postmodern elements in works, I gave an overview of each literary features in the second chapter. Moreover, due to the close affiliation between literature and social life, when I explained the postmodern literature elements, I also tried to explain what kind of social life created them. On the one hand, I expressed how postmodern thinking was affected by social life, on the other hand, I showed how postmodern thinking influenced the social life. After this informations, I showed the postmodern elements in Bilge Karasu's works. As a result of all analyses, I showed that these basic characteristics of postmodern era were applied to the Karasu's works: Metafiction, complicate structure, the interwine of dream and reality, irony, fantastic, magical realism, intertextuality, gothic, the phenomenon of game, new historicism, decayed subject, hyper space, simultaneous time.
